A projector has two boards that matter most: the power board converts mains AC to the 12V, 24V and lamp-ballast rails the unit needs, and the logic board (main controller) decodes the input, drives the panel or DMD, and runs the user interface. When either fails, you see service errors, random reboots, half-booting (lamp lights but no menu), or complete dead-on-arrival. Most failures are component-level: a swollen capacitor on the 12V rail, a cracked solder joint on a high-current MOSFET, or a BGA chip that has lifted under thermal stress.

Won't boot past splash
Splash screen appears, then projector freezes or returns to standby. Logic-board firmware corruption or RAM chip cold solder, repair via re-flash or chip reflow.
Random reset mid-use
Projector reboots itself unexpectedly mid-presentation. Capacitor on the 12V or 5V rail going out of spec under load, power-board capacitor replacement runs ₹2,500-₹6,000.
Service error code on screen
Numerical fault code overlaid on the screen at boot or shortly after. Logic-board-side fault, the code maps to a specific subsystem (lamp driver, fan tach, panel ribbon, formatter chip) we read on visit.
Dead, no LED
No power LED, no fan, no lamp ignition. Power-board failure, often a primary capacitor or the standby 5V regulator. Repairable at our workshop in 2-5 working days.
Fan spins, lamp won't ignite
Standby comes up and the cooling fan spins, but the lamp never lights and the projector eventually times out. Lamp-ballast driver chip failure on the logic or ballast board.
Boots only after several attempts
Projector takes 3-5 power cycles before it boots. Marginal capacitor or cracked solder on the standby supply, going to fail completely soon. Worth fixing now before it strands you.
